marketing tips for 2024

Tip #1: Get A Website

This might seem like an obvious one, but first and foremost, you need a website; a place people can find when they type their needs into Google. You could try to rely solely on a Facebook Page to direct people to your services, but ease of access is vital for gaining new clients, and many won’t bother clicking on your business if it leads them to nothing more than a Facebook page.

Websites also allow for a larger layout and therefore more places for headings to make it easier for your potential clients to find what they need from you. Remember: ease of access is key. If your website is set out in such a way that it confuses people and they have trouble finding what they need from you, they’re likely to leave and look somewhere else, costing you a client.

Headings and heading structures plus keyword rich content with information specifically structured in a way that Google understands it; these are the ways your website will rank in page 1 of Google or other search engines. These tasks can be handled by a professional Digital Marketing Agency to get the best results.

If your website is lacking visitors, maybe it is time you look into some SEO. Scroll down to point #4 for more information.

Tip #2: Optimise Your GMB Listing

For those who do not know, GMB stands for ‘Google My Business’.
If you do not have a Google My Business profile, the best advice we can give you at this point is to get it sorted now. GMB allows for you to get a better look at what is going on in the background with searches in your local area and if Google is even recommending your business to potential customers who are looking for the services that YOUR business offers.

If your website and GMB are not deep linked with eachother of the services you want to ‘rank’ for, then it’s highly likely that Google can’t connect your business to potential clients. This may seem easy, but Google can be finicky, and speaking its language can be a handful to learn. This is why GMB optimisation is important as it becomes the starting point to your growing relationship with Google.

*Tip – When you choose a digital marketing team to increase traffic to your website, find one that offers a ‘results guarantee’ such as the one that is offered by Nash Media Group. “Page 1 of Google in 6 weeks or YOU don’t pay!!”

Tip #3: Keyword Rich Content

We cannot stress enough the importance of using keywords on your website. Without the keywords, it’s like playing charades with Google–you’re showing that you have a business to offer without giving the search engine any indication of the services you offer, making it impossible to lead people to your website and therefore your business.

Here’s a good place to start:

1. Website Headings And Heading Structures.

First and foremost, the H1 (Heading 1) on each page should contain your strongest keyword. I suppose you could look at it as a ‘topic’ or better yet, a specific service that you offer.

Example: If you’re a plumber and the heading up the top of your websites home page reads ‘the unblocking experts’ then straight away, you’re doing your website a disservice. Instead replace it with Plumbers – Sydney (or the suburb you are located). This is because Google will crawl your website to see if your heading 1 matches the users search term – if it’s no-match then your website will not likely make it to page 1 of the search results. And let’s face it – not many people are searching in google for ‘the unblocking experts’.

There are many other Heading variables which need to be applied in order to align with Google Best Practices, too much to go into here, but don’t worry, if you want to do it yourself, we’ve designed this proven 10 step guide which is all yours for just $9. And don’t forget we have our results guarantee – Page 1 of Google in 6 weeks or YOU don’t pay!

2. Content And Lots Of It!

The more content the better, but we like to recommend starting with at least 600 words per page. This can be spread over the entire page and not just within the one paragraph.

Remember: when writing your content, use your keywords and ensure your paragraphs are free-flowing and sound natural, and that your content is yours and not duplicated from anywhere else! This is a big no-no!

When considering your content and heading structures, it’s a good idea to have a strategy session with a Digital Marketing firm who can tell you specific keywords that people are typing into google, that way you can write your headings and content to match!

Tip #4: Improve your website ranking with SEO

SEO is shorthand for Search Engine Optimisation. Don’t worry, it’s a term that sounds scary, and yes, while it might be a loaded title for people who do not speak the language of computers or Google, it’s a vital part of running a successful business and being discovered by new clientele. Remember when we spoke about keyword rich content in Tip #3? This is what we’re referring to. Proper headings in your website, structured in a way that make it easier for Google to find your business, and content filled with lots of words that speak to the services your business offers, make your pages easier to find when relevant or popular words are typed into the search engine. Hiring professionals who know what they are doing for this task not only frees up your time to focus on potential clients, but it also allows for you to stress less and be confident that your business is going to grow in the right hands.

Tip #5: Social Media & Email Marketing are your friends!

In today’s world, there is almost no more a powerful tool in your toolbox for getting your name and brand out there, than social media marketing. Not only is it easier to market your business through places like Instagram and Facebook, but it is one of the best ways to run an advertisement and keep track of what works and what does not for capturing the attention of your preferred clientele, which then allows you to narrow down your audience and gets more return for your efforts.
Email marketing is a tool few people know how to properly utilise to it’s fullest potential, and it can not only get you new clients, but it can also help you keep clients coming back, which can lend credibility to your business as a whole. With the right marketing team by your side, an email list can even find you customers that haven’t engaged in your business through a nifty feature called ‘lookalike audiences’, and if implemented correctly, this can be a game changer for new customer acquisition.
